First, put an inch or so of litter in a tin baking tray. Day by day, move the box closer to the bathroom and ultimately the toilet. Then place the pan on the toilet, under the seat. Show your cat where the box is, maybe even move his/her paw in it to encourage digging. Reward your cat when the box is used. Then, begin lessening the amount of litter in the box and cut a small 2" hole in the bottom of the tray. Gradually make this hole bigger and use less and less litter. At some point the tray will become unnecessary and the cat will use the toilet. This process may take months to complete. Flushing is another matter, as is putting the lid down. They're only cats, you know. |
